Frame – The Federal UZI frame is a unique and custom design that features a 15 degree front rake. The advantage of this design is the wheels cycle back, then up as they hit a bump, dip, rock, etc, which lifts the sandcar over the obstacle. All of the load is transferred to the shock. A vehicle with little to no suspension rake will travel up as it cycles and there is a rearward load to the wheel and suspension mounts. Over time this direct rearward impact can damage mounts, weaken the frame and suspension components, and you as an occupant feel a harsher ride. The structure is very rigid and safe. A no cost option is a windshield brace which helps to keep quads and other vehicles from coming through the windshield in the unfortunate event of meeting in a head on collision. Ground clearance is 16" in rear, 17" in front, which allows enough clearance for obstacles, but is low enough to have a lower center of gravity which helps in handling and cornering.
CV Joints vs U Joints -All Federal Sandrails utulize Heat Treated and Cryofreezed U Joints that were original designed for heavy duty diesel trucks. 1350 Weld Yokes are what our Diesel U Joints are mated to. These are machined to 40 degrees and limited to 36 degrees max angle.
A 930 CV Joint (used by most sandrails) are limited to 24 degrees max angle. Not only will you have more travel with a Federal Sandcar partially because of the U Joint / Weld Yoke combination but you will also have driveline components that can handle more power and abuse. The U Joint is also easy to grease and can be purchased at any automotive supply store in the event that it ever needs to be replaced.
Drivetrain - The Federal UZI sandcar comes standard with a low mileage Suzuki Hayabusa Powertrain. This is an industry standard although new powertains are available as a $1500 option. Engines are compression tested and must pass a number of other tests before we prepare the engine for installation. Once the engine has passed all of our tests, the wiring loom is removed and modified, engine is detailed, smog ports are sealed, sending unit adapters, clutch sleeve cylinder support bracket and sand seal are installed. Installation of engine plates, spacers, final drive, brake rotors and calipers, chain and sprocket and cylinder head stay rods. Every vehicle is field tested to make sure everything is in great working order before the rail is delivered to the customer.
Build Time - Our average build time is 60 days and some sandrails have been completed sooner. Due to unforeseen circumstances like back orders, payment delays and material delays, we do not specify exact completion dates.
Cost - A handful of other smaller Hayabusa and Ecotec powered sand cars are in the same price range as the Federal UZI. A few of these sandrails utulize frames and suspension components that are made in China. If it sounds like a deal that's too good to be true, it more than likely is too good to be true. Many sandrails in the $20k - $40k price range utulize older frame designs with less suspension travel, less bracing and no crumple zones. More suspension travel and safety mean everything. Keep your family safe and your ride smooth. If you aren't 100% convinced that Federal is the best choice for the money, please give us a call.

Aesthetics - Do you want people to say what the heck was that? That is a mean looking sandrail! I've never seen one of those! What is that? That thing looks serious! If so, the UZI was meant for you. Don't be scared. Give us a call.
Suspension Travel - If you're rolling on cheap suspension, guess who feels the bumps? You. Your Passengers. Your kidneys. Your back. Your spine. Your Neck. This is not a place where you want to skimp. You need a shock that is perfectly balanced for your vehicle. Too large with a light car and you'll bounce too much. Too small and it's unsafe. The Federal UZI has been through 3 years of prototyping so that we could deliver the best product that we possibly could. After a crash or two and many blown shocks, we decided that we had to install both a FOX Air Shock and Fox Double ByPass at all 4 corners. This is an amazing combination. The UZI has a soft, smooth ride and an ultra serious setup with 20 inches of travel. Want to jump with the big boys and go 100 mph across the whoops? This car does it and does it very well.
Fuel Economy - Big V-8 powered sandcars require big gas because of their big engines and big weight. Plus you'll need a big truck that requires big gas to pull that big heavy sandrail. Wow, that's a big deal! Got a big gas can? Like 50 Gallons?
The UZI's economy is like comparing the fuel use of a motorcycle to the fuel use of a hot rod. 1 Gallon per hour for the UZI, 5-15 Gallons per hour (usually race fuel) for high horsepower V-8's.
Weight - Ever had a fat chick on the back of your motorcycle? It sucks, but fat chicks need lovin' too. The UZI's weight is like taking a fat chick with a backpack full of twinkies and throwing her on the back of a Hayabusa motorcycle.
The UZI is very light for a sandrail this size coming in at approx 1200 lbs.
Weight Distribution - Good weight distribution is crucial when jumping and performing high speed maneuvers. Rather than having a short front end with a huge engine in the back, the UZI has a long front end with a small engine positioned directly behind the seat
and down low. This close to even weight distribution allows the UZI to perform amazingly whether your drifting on pavement, driving down sand highway, or jumping. Land on all fours like a cat, not on your back two.
Power to Weight Ratio - Just like a Hayabusa motorcycle, the UZI clearly outperforms many high-dollar, heavy car powered vehicles. The UZI has 200hp and weighs just 1200 lbs! The adrenalin rush and sensation that you will feel driving the UZI is similar to the feeling of riding a powerful streetbike like the Suzuki Hayabusa.
Serviceability - Racer Off-Road is the official service center for all Federal Sandrails. The Federal UZI can also be serviced at Suzuki Motorcycle Dealerships. The UZI is Suzuki Powered and Suzuki Serviceable.
Why the Hayabusa? The Suzuki Hayabusa and the Kawasaki ZX-14 are the world's fastest streetbikes. The Hayabusa powertrain has been punished by race teams for years and is still known as the super reliable powerplant that is easy to service and upgrade that offers explosive performance.
Product Evolution - We've put the Federal UZI through 3 years of rigorous testing and development before we decided to begin offering our units to the public. To this day we continue to perform a variety of tests and listen to feedback from hundreds of fans, partners, investors and builders so that the UZI can constantly evolve. We are not stuck in the past. We learn from the past and focus on the future.
Titled – The UZI is issued with a Title. This way you can register, insure and finance your vehicle.
